Banapurisvarar temple is in the northeast part of the town near the Cauvery River. Somakalambikai is the goddess. When Siva as hunter pierced the pot of Netar, it spilled over several places. The place where Siva aimed his Bana (arrow) became Banapuri. The shrine is small but the images are very charming.
