This temple is situated at about 8 Kms from Peralam. Peralam is situated in Mayiladuthurai
- Thiruvarur road. Thirupamburam can also be reached from Kumbakonam by travelling on
the Kumbakonam - Thirunageswaram - Karaikal road to reach a place called Karkaththi
Thirupamburam is one among the Thevara Stalams.The king of serpents Nagarajan,
Karkotakan, Aadisehan,brahma and agasthiyar worshipped lord shiva here. Lord Shiva here
is also referred to as Seshapuriswarar.
Aadisesha the mount of Vishnu worshipped Shiva here on the night of Shivaratri and that
he commenced his worshipped at Kudandai Keezhkottam, and then proceeded through
Tirunageswaram, Thirupampuram and Nagur. This event is celebrated on Mahasivaratri
nights.
Offering worship at Nageswarar temple - Kudandai Keezhkottam, Kumbakonam in the
morning, at Thirunageswaram at noon and at Thirupampuram in the evening on a given day
is considered to be of special significance.
